Author FAQWhat are you looking for?
Fiction (<10,000 word), poetry (up to 7 in a single submission), non-fictional reportage, academic theory (<15,000 words), artwork, photographs, basically anything that fits with our theme and fits within the web presentation format.
What publication rights do you ask for? We ask only for the right to publish the article in the issue it is accepted for and to maintain the article in that issue within the archives of previous issues. We reserve the right to include submitted work in a "Best of Ashé" anthology, if one is produced. Please review our Author Agreement prior to submitting.
We encourage you to submit reprints to us. We prefer articles that saw only limited distribution previously, such as those appearing in specialty or obscure places.
Do you consider excerpts from novels or other long pieces? Yes, but the work should be able to stand on its own.
Do you consider pieces longer than the lengths specified in your guidelines? Yes, rarely. The article really has to bowl us over.
What file formats do you prefer? Submissions should be submitted as an email attachment or mailed on CD-R. For text we prefer MSWord or RTF formats. For graphics high quality JPEGs or TIFFs.
Can't I just paste my story into an email? Please don't. Except for short poems, submissions buried in the body of an email take an extremely long time to format.
Ashé is a labor or love and we derive no profit from its production. We therefore can not pay for submissions. If your work is accepted, we do offer to provide links to your web page or to do what we can in promoting your latest work, gallery show, CD or whatever along with your submission. Please review our Author Agreement prior to submitting.
Should I include anything along with my submission? Yes, please include a short bio of yourself, including other publications in which your work has appeared. This will be included in the Contributors section of the issue and in our running About Our Authors page. If you have a web page include that and a picture is great too. Please acknowledge in your accompanying email that your have read and agree to our Author Agreement.
