Current Call For Submissions & Deadlines
(early submission encouraged)
Ashe Journal is published quarterly. The
journal seeks to advance the understanding of experimental spiritual
exploration. We invite the submission of original writing and artwork
that fits with these stated goals. We also welcome letters, thoughtful
opinions and reviews.
All material will be considered. We place no preference for any particular
religion or sect and do not accept the "authority" of public
opinion as to what constitutes spirituality.
Manuscripts should be the original work of the author(s) that has not
been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Occasionally we
will accept for publication articles which have appeared in small run
or international publications and, therefore, did not receive widespread
distribution at the time of original publication. Contributions should
be relevant to the experimental or individual exploration or expression
of spirituality. Submissions may be in the form of art work, photography,
scholarly articles, poetry, short fiction, observations, opinions, letters
or reviews.
Please review Author Agreement prior to
submitting.

Scholarly Manuscript Preparation
Style: In the case of scholarly work and essays, the editorial
style of Ashe! seeks to be academically rigorous. Length should
not exceed 15,000 words, or 50 double-spaced manuscript pages. Citations
should conform to the following guidelines:
-
All references should be cited in the body of the
manuscript (Author Date, Page).
-
Full citations should be listed in alphabetical
order at the end of the manuscript, examples below.
-
Standard abbreviations for journals should be used
whenever possible.
Manuscripts should be written in grammatically sound English.
Manuscripts should include author's full name, professional
degrees and religious affiliation (in the case of clergy, priests, Santero/as,
etc.). In the case of longer manuscripts, the submission of an accompanying
abstract is suggested. Abstracts should be informative and concise (200
words or less).
Submitting: Manuscripts should be submitted
electronically.
Figures: Submit high quality scans
(see section on artwork) or camera-ready, unmounted prints or laser quality
proofs. The author's name should be affixed to the back of each figure
submitted. If submitted through the mail, all figures should be adequately
protected. Please do not embed figures in the body of the manuscript.
Legends for figures should be typed in numerical sequence
on a separate page at the end of the manuscript. Legends should be concise
and clear.
Tables: Any tables should be printed
on a separate page and submitted with the manuscript. Number the tables
consecutively using arabic numerals.
References: References should be sited in
the body of the paper using author's last name, date and page number (for
book citations) set off by parenthesis, e.g. (Foucault 1980, 31). In the
case of multiple authors use only the first author in the intext citation.
