An Early OTO Lamen From France?
The Influence Sar Péladan
Presented by Jonathan Sellers
These images were discovered in the book entitled L’Art Idéaliste & Mystique:
Doctrine de L’Ordre et du Salon Annuel des Rose + Croix, by Sar Péladan,
published by Chamuel in 1894c.e., one year before Kellner is said to have
established the O.T.O. in his home turf. The full title page has been reproduced
on the next page and detail enlarged to the right. In it we see the Banner
of the Templars, the Beauseant; the Rose + Cross, and the Sangraal. This
comes from the original R+C Order that Péladan was associated with:
The Order of the Rose Croix, the Temple and the Grail.
The Mitre above the Lamen is reminiscent of the Babylonian Mitre Hats, which
in turn are modeled after the DuKu Mounds in the Temples, and the Original
Teachers, the Apkallu, of which Oannes was the original. This fits Péladan’s
usage of Babylonian symbolism in his writings.
